I have released a new version of Driver Extractor that improves the compatibility for running the tool on Windows 8/8.1. Also the module creation for Windows Embedded 8 Standard has been updated to ensure that the modules work properly with the latest release.
The newest Update 1 for Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro will add many new features to the operating system itself. These features are identical to the retail versions of Windows 8.1. However the biggest change for the embedded version is that is allows to sideload modern Windows Store Apps without the need of additional sideloading keys! After the update has been applied (and some settings in the local policy have been changed) it is possible to install and run any Windows Store App on the device. This allows to create modern applications and ship them with your device without any [...]
Microsoft has just updated the Embedded Lockdown Manager in Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry. The new update enables the configuration of the USB Filter, App Launcher and Gesture Filter through the Management Console Snap-In UI. This makes the configuration much simpler than before. The Breakout Key of the Keyboard Filter can now be configured as well through the UI. Also Shell Launcher can be enabled through a simple click in the Management UI. Please note that you must install KB 2932074 first to be able to configure App Launcher through the Embedded Lockdown Manager. To download the new version of the [...]

I have finished a new version of DISMUI that includes support for Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro. Most of DISMUIs code has been rewritten for this release to enhance the overall experience and also uses a bit of a refreshed design. The new version also contains a new feature that allows showing all dependents of a specific component. This makes it easy to find out why a component gets pulled back in during dependency check. It also allows to install missing drivers easily in Windows Embedded 8 Standard. Also it allows enabling and disabling Windows Features, even if the system [...]
The new version of DISMUI requires .NET 4.0 to run – however if it is required to run it on systems that only have the .NET 2.0 installed you can download the version 3.0 of DISMUI from this blog post. Please note, that DISMUI 3.0 will no longer be upgraded. It works without any problems on all supported operating system but new features will only be added to the most recent version based on .NET 4.0.

If you have devices based on Windows Embedded 8 / 8.1 that are not allowed to have internet connection, and devices where phone activation would take too long to process, then we might have a solution for you. I have developed PowerShell scripts that can be adapted to retrieve the activation keys from all known devices in the network. These keys can then be copied to a machine that has internet access. Another script will automatically get the activation confirmation keys for all the devices from the Microsoft servers. Script number three will use these confirmation keys on the devices [...]
Microsoft just announced that most products of their ForeFront product line will be retired mid of next year. If you have developed devices that are built up-on these products then you will not be able to ship them with the regular license anymore. However these products are still available with embedded licensing – some even until 2023! The complete End-Of-Life table can be obtained from MyOEM: https://myoem.microsoft.com/oem/myoem/en/topics/Licensing/pgl/Pages/DPDistOEMDirProdAvalnDistiEOLProd.aspx For more information please contact us.
