Microsoft has published the RTM version of Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry for all MSDN and TechNet subscribers.
You can already download and test the new final version to ensure that your applications will work on the new OS when it becomes generally available in October.
Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry is based on Windows 8.1 but comes with the Embedded Lockdown features to secure your device and allow additional branding.
Key features to test now:
- Unified Write Filter (UWF) – protect your drive from writes
- Shell Launcher – replace the default shell with your application
- Keyboard Filter – block or filter specific key combinations
- Gesture Filter – control touch gestures
- USB Filter – control USB peripheral access
- App Launcher – launch specific applications
- Branding customizations
