Microsoft released a new cumulative update for Windows 7 called the "Convenience Update". It contains all security and non-security updates from SP1 until April 2016. This update also makes sense for the Embedded Channel.
Normally the update doesn't work for Windows Embedded Standard 7, but we found a way to do the installation anyway.
This blog post shows you how to install this update. Note: This might not be supported by Microsoft!
Step 1: Download and install prerequisite update
Download Update for Windows 7 (KB3020369) from:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=46827
Install KB3020369 first — this is required before the Convenience Update will install.
Step 2: Download the Convenience Update (KB3125574)
- 32-bit: Search for KB3125574 on the Microsoft Update Catalog
- 64-bit: Search for KB3125574 x64 on the Microsoft Update Catalog
Step 3: Install KB3125574
Run the installer. The update may take significant time to install. A restart will be required.
Please note: Always test updates on a non-production system first. Contact Elbacom if you need assistance with your Windows Embedded Standard 7 deployment and update strategy.
